ESTV's official calculator
The Swiss Federal Tax Administration runs a free, official tax calculator with commune-by-commune comparison and a capital-withdrawal (lump-sum) tax calculator. It's accurate and it's free. It computes one scenario at a time — it won't tell you whether a pension buy-in or a 3a contribution saves you more this year, because it doesn't rank anything.
Free single-purpose calculators
finpension, UBS, Tellco, and Taxolution all publish free buy-in tax-savings calculators. VZ VermögensZentrum, Pax, and Allianz all publish good free guides on staggering pension withdrawals and splitting pillar 3a across accounts. Each of these answers one question well. None of them tell you which lever to do first when you can only afford one, or that maxing out a buy-in this year can shrink next year's 3a room.
A Treuhänder (tax advisor)
A real professional, personalised, and legally accountable if they get it wrong. Typically CHF 200–350 an hour, with an appointment to book and days or weeks of turnaround for something you could otherwise act on tonight.
Optiqo — CHF 49, once
Every lever computed on your real numbers, ranked by what it actually saves you this year — not a menu of options, one answer. Then a dated, sequenced checklist: which document to request, which German or French form line to file it under, and the hard 31 December deadlines that make the difference real. Built on the same official ESTV tax model the free calculator uses, not an approximation.
The honest version
If you're comfortable running four or five calculators yourself, cross-referencing which levers compete for the same cash, and building your own dated checklist — you can do this for free, and you should.
