Optiqo

Terms of Use

By using Optiqo you agree to the terms below. Read them — they are short, plain-language, and protect both of us.

What Optiqo is

Optiqo is a Swiss tax planning tool operated by Optiqo Sàrl (the “Service”). It comprises a free atlas of Swiss commune tax data and a paid personalised tax-optimisation plan.

Optiqo is not tax advice. It is a computational tool that surfaces tax-saving opportunities based on published cantonal and federal tax rates. We are not a substitute for a licensed tax adviser, fiduciary, or your cantonal Steuerverwaltung. See the full disclaimer.

Eligibility

You may use Optiqo if you are at least 18 years old and a natural person resident in Switzerland or otherwise subject to Swiss tax. Use of Optiqo by automated systems, scrapers, or other non-human agents requires our prior written consent.

Free tier

The free atlas (commune Steuerfuss data, calculator estimator, commune comparison, news ticker, atlas browse) is available at no charge, without sign-up, and without any obligation. We may rate-limit or restrict access to prevent abuse.

Paid plan

The personalised tax plan (Tier II) costs CHF 49 once, payable via Visa, Mastercard, or TWINT. The plan is valid for tax year 2026 and remains accessible to you until 31 December 2027.

Refund policy: if Optiqo does not surface tax opportunities for you that total at least CHF 49 in legitimate potential savings within 30 days of purchase, contact hello@optiqo.ch and we will refund you in full. The CHF 49 is a one-time payment; we never charge recurring fees and never store your card details on our servers (payments are handled by Stripe).

Your account

We use magic-link email sign-in. We do not require a password and do not maintain user-facing “passwords” on our servers. You are responsible for keeping your email account secure.

You may delete your account and all associated data at any time via the dashboard, or by emailing us. Once deleted, your data is unrecoverable.

Document uploads

When you upload a Lohnausweis (salary certificate) or Vorsorgeausweis (pension statement), the file is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM using a master key that exists only in our application server's process memory. The encrypted blob is physically deleted 30 days after upload, or immediately after extraction if you tick the box.

We extract only the few numbers needed for tax math (gross salary, BVG contribution, etc.). We never store AHV / NAVS13 numbers, IBANs, account numbers, or postal addresses. See the full privacy policy.

Accuracy & no warranty

We make a reasonable effort to keep cantonal tax brackets and commune Steuerfuss data accurate, sourced from the ESTV Kantonsblätter and cantonal authorities. Two cantons (BL, VS) and several small cantons use approximation models which are clearly labelled in the UI as “Approx. scale.”

Optiqo is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the output is error-free, up-to-date, or sufficient for filing your tax return. Always verify against your cantonal Steuerverwaltung.

Acceptable use

You may not:

  • Scrape, crawl, or otherwise programmatically extract our content beyond reasonable browser-use
  • Misrepresent Optiqo's output as official tax advice
  • Attempt to circumvent paywalls, rate limits, or authentication
  • Submit fraudulent payment information
  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose

Intellectual property

Optiqo's source code, design, copy, and atlas methodology are our intellectual property. Underlying tax data is in the public domain (sourced from ESTV and cantonal authorities) — you are free to use that data; we ask only that you cite the source.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Swiss law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of your use of Optiqo is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (i.e. for free-tier users, zero; for paid users, up to CHF 49).

We are not liable for any tax assessment, penalty, interest, or consequential damage resulting from your reliance on Optiqo's output. You are responsible for your tax return.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Optiqo at any time if you breach these Terms or if we cease to operate the Service. In the case of cessation, paid users will receive a pro-rata refund.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to paid users by email at least 14 days before taking effect. The latest version is always available at this URL with a “Last updated” date in the header.

Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Swiss law (excluding conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods). The exclusive place of jurisdiction for any dispute is the canton in which Optiqo Sàrl is registered.
